Fade..... or this?
by Giordano inthere are four ways to leave the 'truth'...... alive............you can be disfellowshiped...... then shunned, you can formally disassociate yourself and be shunned........ you can fade.
the first two words belong to the society, fade on the other hand is defined as 'to gradually grow faint and disappear.
' 'walking away' has it's own negative connotation about one's commitments and relationships.. i think some folks feel uncomfortable with these words.

I want to understand British references to your countries.
by compound complex ingreetings, friends across the two ponds:.
of course, as per other posters' recommendations, i could google this; i have and remain, not totally confused, but wanting the straight dope as well as nuanced meaning.
i'm both curious and needing to know for purposes of editing works of american and british writers.

the biggest nonsense is where the new watchtower has been erected--warwick...pronounced in the US as WAR_WICK.
FFS its WORRICK--the county town of the county of Warwickshire--in England.. Famous for Shakespeare..and a lot older than the USA.

i live on the Isle of Wight--an island just offshore from southern England---not far from Portsmouth and Southampton. Portsmouth is known as Pompey. Sothampton is scumamton.
but i was born in Birmingham, UK pronounced burbigubb. try it--just hold your nose as you say it. also abbreviated to B'ham.

My childhood home, 60 years later. What about yours?
by compound complex ingreetings, former children:.
i really miss my childhood home, which we left in 1960. dad sold it for some 12,000 dollars; it recently sold for somewhere under 1.5 million.
it's only a tiny bungalow but in a prosperous bay area town, not too far from san francisco, california.. the art and literature that are so important to me -- and for many others of us -- got their start in my heart and mind here in the california mountains.

i was born- (1948 )-and grew up--in Balsall Heath---in Birmingham UK. this area was pretty well flattened by bombing in the 2nd world war. i used to play in " bomb sites"--holes in the ground where houses used to be.
the house my dad rented had no hot water: a weekly bath was endured in a galvanised bath tub in the kitchen.
the only lavatory was outside the house--in a brick closet shared by all sorts of demons--big spiders--and a couple of caged ferrets with red eyes. definitely no place for a young child to ease nature. i think i hold the world record for constipation.
the lavatory was also--informally-- shared by a number of workers in a factory at the rear of the premises--who climbed the tall brick wall to use the facility as there was none in the factory..
toilet paper was unheard of. if you were lucky--a piece of soft blue tissue paper formerly wrapped around an orange--otherwise crumpled damp newspaper..
post war great britain was a land of real opportunity. i'm told.

Are Anointed Female JW`s To Grow Beards In Heaven ?
by smiddy3 inok i have been out for over 25 years however i was active for 33 years and every picture /illustration of the 144,000 in wt publications i ever saw always showed the anointed/144000 with jesus on the throne apparently all male with beards.. not one woman was ever depicted in their drawings/illustrations that i ever saw of those sharing kingly rule with christ jesus not one.. and the saying is : 'a picture speaks more than a thousand words".
i can hear a jw apologist saying now [ their is no gender in heaven neither male or female ] well if that is the case why are everybody illustrated wearing a beard clearly a sign of being of the male gender.?.
in the wt illustrations/pictures of angels they are not shown as having beards giving the impression they are neither male or female .however not with those taken to heaven to rule with christ the anointed.. maybe the governing body of jehovah`s witnesses are showing their true feelings about women who claim to be of the anointed .. that the g.b.

the 144,000 are virgin males --12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of israel. thats what it says in the bible.
you either believe it--or you dont.

Sister may have had a slight heart attack, do I text her?
by Xanthippe inso my cousin phoned and told me my jw sister was taken to hospital with chest pains and it may have been a slight heart attack or possibly she's starting with angina.
now as some of you know my sisters and brother have had little to do with me for 29 years.
we've met at funerals, or arranged them, but i just thought today what if she did die?

i wouldnt worry about a dub relative--or former friend-- dying...it guarantees them a resurrection into their new world--so every one's happy.

The Governing Body's credibility
by UnshackleTheChains ingiven the proliferation of websites, youtube channels, books and other forms of media attention focusing on the extreme policies, teachings and scandals of the watchtower bible and tract society; where does this now leave the governing body's credibility?.

If you think about it..the watchtower can't lose with its Armageddon teaching.
Sure...Armageddon is very close..in fact..just around the corner...and only the loyal jw will survive.
But
If it doesn't happen..well that's because Jehovah has delayed it to give more people a chance to become jw. So we need to spend more time spreading the good news.
